TOTAL and SVG are building a new service area on route A9 in Coswig (Anhalt)
Berlin / Hanover, January 10, 2017 – With the future Coswig service area by TOTAL and SVG an entirely new service area with a varied range of services is being created on route A 9 between Berlin and Leipzig. The demolition and clearing work for the new construction project will be starting next week. The transport cooperative for the state of Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt Straßenverkehrs-Genossenschaft (SVG) Niedersachsen/Sachsen-Anhalt eG in cooperation with TOTAL Deutschland GmbH, McDonald’s Deutschland LLC and other investment partners is the sponsor of the project. The start of construction for the TOTAL-SVG-Autohof Coswig-East service area is planned for mid-2017. The McDonald's restaurant is scheduled to open in 2018.
The partners are jointly investing some 10 million Euros in the site. On a B-plan surface of ca. 7.2 ha the modern service area is to be constructed on ca. 2.33 ha. There are contractually secured compensation areas with replacement planting. There is a direct traffic connection via an extension of the BAB-A 9 interchange Coswig-East as well as via the connection located east of this to the Buroer Feld. The new service area is located north of B 187 / B 187n. The plot development is to commence in the 1st half of 2017. There are still some 20,000 m² free commercial areas for interested parties.
Ralf Beckmann, Member of the Board of SVG: “We are pleased to create another possibility for providing en route services in the transport sector. It is particularly important for truck drivers to have good conditions for breaks and overnight stays. With the still vacant commercial areas we offer regional and national companies the possibility of further development. Through constructive cooperation with the partners and authorities involved the necessary planning can be carried out smoothly.”
Guillaume Larroque, Service Stations Manager at TOTAL Deutschland, said: “We would like to thank our project partners, the representatives and the administration of the city of Coswig (Anhalt), the authorities on site, who all actively supported us with the development of the project. The development plan is all set. At our future Coswig-East service area we will be offering conventional quality fuels by TOTAL as well as AdBlue gas pumps for trucks and cars. There will be 6 car and 4 truck lanes. In addition, there will be a modern service station shop with a restaurant and sanitary areas. The service area will be equipped with our newly developed TOTAL service station design.”
The construction of this service area is part of the growth strategy over the past years for TOTAL in addition to partnerships with service station medium-sized businesses and additional new buildings. Since 2012 TOTAL has been able to expand its network in Germany by more than 140 stations to currently 1,200 service stations. The brand presence continues to be at the focus with service areas along highway routes with heavy traffic. Currently, TOTAL operates 44 service areas throughout Germany, 6 of these in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
