New strategy of the Total Group as a result of the change of partner at TENAG

The creation of the new Gas, Renewables and Power (GRP) division, with which the Total Group wants to strengthen its position in new fields of the energy market, will impact on activities in Germany. Effective 1st October, GRP has taken over the shares of the energy management consultant TENAG in Wiesbaden previously held by TOTAL Deutschland GmbH.

TENAG – TOTAL Energy Efficiency Agency – was founded as a joint venture by TOTAL Deutschland und Simon Management Systems in 2012 and specialises in providing energy efficiency consulting services for companies and energy management systems. Every year it offers energy management advice to around 300 companies from a wide range of branches and also carries out energy audits and energy efficiency inspections at a large number of sites.

Matthias Lisson, managing director at TENAG, explains that the realignment of responsibility among the partners in the TOTAL Group will not change anything for the customers in terms of contracts or contact persons. This new development does however underscore Total’s rigorous focus on new energy issues, such as solar energy, storage technologies and new sales and consulting services in this field.

The new GRP division, which was created on 1st September, represents the growing importance that the Total Group is attaching to the new energy fields and culminates decades of work in this sector. In the future this will be a full organisational unit on a par with the classic divisions: Exploration & Production of Oil and natural Gas, Refineries & Chemicals for processing activities, and the sales units within the marketing & Services division.
