Change of management at TOTAL

Bruno Daude-Lagrave has overtaken the responibility as CEO from Hans-Christian Gützkow at TOTAL Deutschland GmbH.

Former fuel station director Bruno Daude-Lagrave (49) will succeed Hans-Christian Gützkow (52) as the new managing director of TOTAL Germany.

Bruno Daude-Lagrave took over as managing director of TOTAL Deutschland GmbH in Berlin on 8th July 2016. He will be following the very successful footsteps of Hans-Christian Gützkow, who managed the company since 2009 and is now moving on to assume an international management position within the Group in Paris.

Since Gützkow took over in 2009 TOTAL has been able to increase its share of the German market from 7% to around 9% – TOTAL now runs about 1,200 fuel stations throughout Germany making it the third largest operator based on stations.

"I am really looking forward to my new task," says Bruno Daude-Lagrave. "TOTAL's German fuel stations have become the second most important network within the company, right behind our French home market. This is the result of the work by Hans-Christian Gützkow and the entire team in Berlin. It is now up to us to build on this success and reach our declared goal of 10 percent market share in Germany by 2018!"

Hans-Christian Gützkow said: "I would like to thank all the staff and our partners for their efforts over the past few years. We have consistently pursued our growth strategy and established TOTAL as an innovative player and number 2 in the German fuel station market! At the same time, we have also boosted our other business activities and launched new products, for instance the energy efficiency consulting with Tenag. We now offer our customers a broad-based multi-energy portfolio with a wide range of services!

Years of experience in the German market

Bruno Daude-Lagrave has in-depth know-how of the German market. Between 2006 and 2011 he was director for fuel station activities at TOTAL Germany. He also managed the shop business between 1997 and 2001 and was also responsible for the advertising of the German fuel station network of Elf and, after the merger, of TotalFinaElf.

Between 2011 and the end of 2015 Daude-Lagrave managed AS24, TOTAL's fuel station brand for its European lorry station network. In 2016 he briefly acted as vice-president responsible for the fuel station network in the strategy department of the Group's Marketing & Services division. A further part of his carreer path was the management of the central controlling department for the French marketing activities in Paris between 2004 and 2006.

Hans-Christian Gützkow will be assuming an international management position within the Group at the Marketing & Services executive board level in Paris. This is home to TOTAL's global fuel station business managing 16,000 stations as well as other sales areas for mineral oil products such as lubricants, heating oil, special products, additives, bitumen, marine fuels and aviation. One of the highlights of Gützkow' time in office was when over 500 employees moved into the TOUR TOTAL, the new German headquarters in the Europacity next to the Berliner main station in autumn 2012.
